Special events and worthy causes

hot air ballooning

As time goes by, we find more special events created to bring people together around the state of the planet. Many events raise funds to support a worthy cause. Others merely raise awareness. Whatever the reason, whatever we find worthwhile and newsworthy will be included here. We hope that our visitors will learn more about and participate in many of these events. Being able to make these choices is part of what makes our world a better place to live in. If you would like to learn about other ways that you can become an "activist", visit our Take action webpage.

March 22-28 is World Water Week. The event brings to light a sobering fact about clean water around the world. Over 1 billion people do not have access to clean drinking water. Every 15 seconds, a child dies from a water-borne illness. If you would like to learn more about it, visit the You can also go to the World Water Day information website. You can also go to the General Electric website for information about clean water technology.
You can also participate in a UNICEF-sponsored event where you can donate $1.00 towards clean water for someone else. Visit tapproject.org for more information. To learn more about drinking water, read our drinking water report.

Earth Day celebrations

May 6-12 was National Safe Drinking Water Week. There's no time like the present to learn more about your drinking water. Visit the Environmental Protection Agency information page on Water Week here.

On Saturday, July 7th, LiveEarth.org sponsored an all-day concert series to raise awareness about global warming. 150 musicians performed on every continent, with special appearances by celebrity advocates. To see photos and the performance schedule, go to Bravotv.com.

October 11th is Herb Day. If you love herbs, go to HerbDay.org for information about herb day events in your area. Or perhaps you'd like to sponsor an event; you can enter the information there.
