Organic beverages
Consumer demand is growing in the organic beverages, or drinks, sector. In North America, organic juice sales alone are projected to double in 2005. Interest in organic soda is no doubt fueled by consumer demand for natural soda without artificial flavorings, preservatives and phosphoric acid (which is linked with bone loss). Many parents would no doubt like to steer their children away from drinks which are high in sugar, lacking in nutrition, and full of chemicals. Consumer concern about bovine growth hormone is no doubt driving the increasing demand for organic milk. Organic, fair trade coffee and tea are now available in most major supermarkets.
