My boyfriend knew better than to propose with a ring in hand - I have very specific tastes, and had always said that I wanted a one-of-a-kind ring that truly reflected my personality and values.

I was also keenly aware of the environmental and human rights issues associated with the traditional diamond and jewelry industry, so I sought a ring that was not only gorgeous and unique, but one that I would feel good about wearing.

The process of finding such a ring proved challenging and frustrating. I was told by dozens of jewelers that what I searched for just didn't exist. However, after months of dedicated effort working closely with suppliers, designers and manufacturers, I was finally able to create my perfect ring.
