A good question deserves a good answer
by: Lydia

Although the term "organic" has been abused recently, I believe that organically grown food and products derived from organic ingredients are good for us for a number of reasons: 1) organic foods are grown without toxic pesticides, which tend to accumulate in body fat, and have been shown to be detrimental to health over time; 2) fewer pesticides on our food means fewer chemicals in our soil, which run off into our water systems, and which pollute our air; 3) products made using organic ingredients leave fewer toxic chemicals in our homes and on our skin, which are ultimately absorbed into our bodies; 4) buying organic food supports our small, private farmers who work hard to grow food without genetically modified seeds, the way it was meant to be grown. These farmers do not receive huge subsidies to grow say, corn or soybeans, which are primarily fed to animals. Our local farmers mainly grow food that we will ultimately eat. 5) Organic and biodynamic farming practices support biodiversity, which is good for plants and the animals that live off them.

I hope this answers your question!
